Inaugurated by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1870, the Musikverein has since become a beloved venue for music lovers worldwide. The Golden Hall is particularly renowned, not only for the annual global broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year’s Concert but also as the permanent home of the Vienna Philharmonic and the main stage for the Vienna Mozart Orchestra.
The Danish-Austrian architect Theophil von Hansen (1813 – 1891) designed the Brahms Hall in the Musikverein to provide the perfect setting for enjoying music. Following its restoration to the original plans, the Brahms Hall now showcases its admired original beauty in all its splendor, attracting visitors from around the globe.
